Ron Goss Jr. - 2009

Historic renovation specialist Ron Goss Jr. has been selected as the 2009 recipient of the Georgia Cities Foundation’s “Renaissance Award.” Goss, president of Lauren, Michael & Calloway, LLC in Cartersville, accepted the award at the 2009 Georgia Municipal Association Annual Convention in Savannah on Sunday, June 21, 2009.

The Renaissance Award recognizes an individual or organization that has made a significant contribution to the revitalization of one or more of Georgia’s cities. During the past 10 years, Goss, who was nominated for the award by the city of Rome, has been directly involved with the rehabilitation of nearly 20 projects of various sizes in Cartersville and Rome. These projects include commercial and mixed-use properties that Goss acquired for more than $2 million. Through Goss’s efforts, these dilapidated and threatened structures have been beautifully rehabilitated, and their improved values now collectively exceed more than $13 million.

“To say that Ron Goss’s impact on downtown Cartersville and downtown Rome has been significant would be an understatement,” said Georgia Cities Foundation President Mike Starr. “During the past 10 years, 46 businesses have either started up or relocated to one of Ron’s downtown properties. An additional eight businesses have either expanded or enhanced their operations by relocating into one of his downtown properties. Finally, 18 luxury residential housing opportunities have been created through Ron’s West Lofts project in Downtown Rome.”
