Mayor Jimmy Burnett with the City of Suwanee is the 2022 Starr Award recipient. Mayor Burnette is no stranger to GMA or the Georgia Downtown Association, as he has served his hometown for more than 26 years. Mayor Burnett served as a catalyst for numerous public and private investment projects with his hometown. His influence adn impact are evident in everything from pioneering the development of a new town center and park, to expanding infrastructure; from building open space parks to encouraging and promoting public art and providing leadership for innovative approaches to placemaking within the city center.
