Amy Johnson with the city of Moultrie is the recipient of the 2023 Starr Award. Amy is no stranger to GMA or the Georgia Downtown Association, as she has served her city for over the last 24 years. Amy served as a catalyst for the elimination of countless areas of blight within the downtown and has been proactive in moving forward with numerous public and private investment projects within the city. As an example of her pioneering spirit, she initiated the new EDGE program, a "one-stop-shop" where city leaders sit down and help answer any questions a potential business owner mah have or point out potential problems before they become an issue for that business owner. Because of the success of this program, other towns want to adopt this approach. Under her leadership, the city of Moultrie has continued to maintain the Main Street America Distinction as a Georgia Exceptional Main Street City. The succes of the city's downtown area and its people. Amy Johnson for over two decades has helped transform dowtnown Moutrie into a vibrant and thriving activity center. She truly exemplifies the type of leader envisioned by the Starr Award.
