27 Decatur-based Businesses Qualify for Small-Business Loans

The city of Decatur announced that 27 businesses are receiving loans from the Emergency Small Business Loan Program the city created in April. The loans range from $5000 to $25,000, and according to data provided by Adam Schick with The Wilbert Group, the average amount delivered to loan recipients is $20,185.

Callaway is director of NewCity Brunswick, an organization created to encourage new residents and businesses to move downtown. The privately funded nonprofit organization will provide revolving loans and other creative funding, including assistance for state and federal grants. A housing study developers typically pay for before committing to a project will be available for use by anyone expressing an interest in downtown.

New Downtown Athens Building to Feature Roof-Top Eatery

Downtown Athens is getting another tall building; tall by Athens standards, at least. The six-story building soon to begin construction at the corner of Lumpkin and Broad streets, called “115 Broad,” is designed for office and retail space. And according to real estate brokers NAI Elrod Group of Watkinsville, it will feature Athens’ first rooftop restaurant, with a view overlooking the eastern side of UGA’s north campus.


Welcome Center Coming to Downtown Moultrie

After two and a half years of planning and obstacles, the Downtown Moultrie Tomorrow has completed the purchase of the old Citi Trends building downtown. The property on Main Street at Central Avenue, across from the Colquitt County Courthouse, was tied up in an estate problem involving laws in different states, City Manager Pete Dillard said, but now the deal is done and officials can move forward with a planned downtown welcome center.
